Deacon’s Quorum
This last Sunday at church, my son was fortunate to receive the calling to be the Deacon’s Quorum President. In the Mormon faith there is a President of the Deacon‘s Quorum and a President of the Teachers Quorum. These two presidents of quorums are usually young men. For the Deacons, it is usually a young man between 12 and 14. The Teachers Quorum President is usually between the ages of 14 and 16. The Priest Quorum is a little bit different than the rest because the President of the Priest Quorum is the Bishop. The Bishop usually calls an assistant to help organize the Quorum and he delegates a lot of the day to day happenings to this assistant. The First Assistant is usually a young man between the ages of 16 and 18.
These three priesthoods form the Aaronic Priesthood in the LDS Church. The Aaronic Priesthood is a preparatory priesthood which trains young men to be leaders, counselors and advisors. Once a young man turns 18, he then is eligible to receive the Melchizedek Priesthood.
