Garden
I don’t know why but Mormon Families everywhere drudge up some of their grass in their back yards and crouch down in the dirt and plant a garden. Ok, I do know why LDS Families plant gardens, a Prophet told us to do it, so we do it. Here is an article from Ezra Taft Benson talking about having a garden. “Let every man who has a garden spot, garden it; every man who owns a farm, farm it.”.
Our little Mormon Family is following that council even though it seems like nothing ever comes of it. There must be a reason for us to have a garden so, we do it.
A few years ago I took a rototiller to a section of our backyard and planted some vegetables. Now, with the standard and tradition set, I have no choice but to continue the tradition of planting the garden.
